For AI agents
Use DialAMessage with your AI agent
Connect Claude Code, Claude.ai or Codex to your account. Ask it how last week went, or to put Sunday's audio message on your line, and it does the work in DialAMessage for you. You choose what it may do, and you can turn it off at any time.
Read and explain
What each line is playing and why, your audio messages, and your listening numbers: calls, minutes, unique callers and web plays.
Publish audio messages
Add an audio message from a link or a file, publish it now or for set dates, archive it, and change your greeting, fallback recording and goodbye.
Connect a podcast
Connect your feed so each new episode goes on your line by itself.
Add a line or change plan
Only if you turn it on. The agent shows you what it will cost and a 6-digit code, and does nothing until you say yes.
Set it up
Your agent connects to DialAMessage at https://mcp.dialamessage.com/mcp. The first time it does, it opens your browser so you can sign in to DialAMessage and approve what it may do. You need to be the account owner.
Claude Code
Run this in your terminal, then ask Claude something like “what's playing on my line?” and sign in when your browser opens. (You can also type /mcp in Claude Code to sign in.)
claude mcp add --transport http dialamessage https://mcp.dialamessage.com/mcpClaude.ai and the Claude desktop app
- Open Settings → Connectors and choose Add custom connector.
- Name it DialAMessage and paste
https://mcp.dialamessage.com/mcpas the URL. - Choose Connect, then sign in to DialAMessage and approve it.
Connectors you add on Claude.ai also show up in Claude Code when you're signed in to the same Claude account, so you don't need to add DialAMessage twice. Add it to Claude Code separately only if you want Claude Code to have its own connection, with its own permissions.
Codex
Add the server, then sign in:
codex mcp add dialamessage --url https://mcp.dialamessage.com/mcp
codex mcp login dialamessageApprove the connection
After you sign in, DialAMessage shows which agent is asking and lets you pick its permissions. Nothing works until you approve it. You can change the permissions later on the Connected agents page in your dashboard.
Personal keys
Some agents run without you there to sign in, like a script or Codex in CI. Give those a personal key instead. Create one in your dashboard on the Connected agents page and choose its permissions. Keys start with dam_ and are shown once, so copy yours straight away. Your agent sends it as Authorization: Bearer dam_….
Put the key in the DIALAMESSAGE_API_KEY environment variable, then for Claude Code:
claude mcp add --transport http dialamessage https://mcp.dialamessage.com/mcp --header "Authorization: Bearer $DIALAMESSAGE_API_KEY"For Codex, add this to ~/.codex/config.toml:
[mcp_servers.dialamessage]
url = "https://mcp.dialamessage.com/mcp"
bearer_token_env_var = "DIALAMESSAGE_API_KEY"Treat a key like a password. If one leaks, turn it off on the Connected agents page and create a new one.
Permissions and tools
An agent can only do what you allow, and never more than you can do yourself. Each permission unlocks these tools:
read on by default
See your lines, audio messages, listening numbers and usage.

get_audio_message | One audio message in detail: processing, schedule, length. |
get_analytics | Calls, minutes, unique callers, web plays and your top audio messages. |
get_usage | Phone minutes used this period and where you're headed. |

Change your plan.
preview_plan_change | Show what a plan change would cost. Changes nothing. |
|---|---|
change_plan | Change your plan or extra lines, after you confirm. |
Turn an agent off at any time on the Connected agents page. It stops at its next request. Every change an agent makes is listed under that agent on the same page.
Things to ask
- “How many people called last week, and which audio message did best?”
- “Publish the MP3 at https://example.org/audio/sunday.mp3 as this Sunday's audio message on the main line.”
- “What will callers hear on Christmas Day? Is anything scheduled to end soon?”
- “Schedule the Advent audio message to play from December 1 to December 24, then go back to the regular one.”
- “Am I going to use more phone minutes than my plan includes this month?”
- “Find a number with a 615 area code for a new prayer line, and hold it so I can think about it.”
Safety
- Agents never see your callers' phone numbers. Listening reports are totals and counts only.
- Money needs your yes. Buying a number or changing your plan never happens on the first try. The agent shows you what it will do and cost, with a 6-digit code, and goes ahead only when you agree. A code works once, for that change, within 10 minutes.
- Some things are never available to agents: refunds, your recording PINs and closing your account.
- Rate limits. An agent can make at most 60 requests and 10 changes a minute.
- Text is data. Titles, names and podcast text are passed to your agent marked as data, not instructions.
