Publish and schedule audio messages
Put an audio message on your line now, or set dates for it to start and end. Here's what plays when.
Publish now
- On your dashboard, choose Audio messages.
- Find an audio message that says Ready, and choose Publish now.
Callers hear it on their next call.
Schedule it
- Choose Schedule… on the audio message.
- Set Starts, and if you like, Ends.
- Choose Schedule.
Times are in your account’s time zone. The audio message shows “Scheduled for…” until it starts, and “Ended…” after it ends.
What plays when
When more than one audio message could play, your line decides like this:
- An audio message with an end date, during its dates. If two overlap, the one you scheduled most recently plays.
- Otherwise, the newest audio message. Among those without an end date and podcast episodes, the one that started most recently plays. So a new podcast episode replaces an audio message you published without an end date.
- Nothing published right now? Your fallback recording plays.
- No fallback? The audio message that ended most recently keeps playing, so your line is never empty.
Your dashboard always shows what Callers hear now, and what plays Next and when.
Tip: to play a special audio message for a few days and then go back to the regular one, schedule it with an end date.
