Keys callers can press
Callers can start over, skip back or ahead, hear the previous audio message, and pick up where they left off.
While your audio message plays, callers can press:
| Key | What happens |
|---|---|
| 0 | Start the audio message over from the beginning. |
| 1 | Go back 30 seconds. |
| 3 | Skip ahead 30 seconds. Near the end, this skips to your goodbye and the call ends. |
| 7 | Hear the audio message you published before this one, from the beginning. If there isn’t one, the current one keeps playing. |
Any other key is ignored and playback carries on. Callers don’t hear a menu, so let them know about the keys yourself, for example in your bulletin or newsletter, or in your greeting.
Picking up where they left off
Long audio messages are easier to finish in more than one call. On any audio message longer than 3 minutes, when someone calls back within 7 days, the same audio message is still playing, and last time they hung up partway through (after the first 30 seconds, before the very end), they hear “Welcome back. Picking up where you left off. Press 0 to start over.” and the audio message continues from about where they stopped. This replaces your greeting on that call.
It’s on for every line. To turn it off:
- On your dashboard, choose Line settings.
- Uncheck Pick up where callers left off, then choose Save.
With it off, every call starts from the beginning.
