An audio message couldn't be processed

What each "Couldn't process" reason means and what to do.

When an audio message says Couldn’t process, the reason is shown under its title. An audio message that couldn’t be processed never plays. For most reasons, delete it, fix the problem, and upload it again.

“Unsupported file type…” or “We couldn’t read this file as audio…” Upload an MP3, WAV, M4A or AAC file. If you’re exporting from editing software, choose MP3.

“File is larger than 500 MB…” Export it as an MP3 or M4A, which is much smaller, and upload that.

“This recording is … minutes long. Your plan plays audio messages up to … minutes.” Audio messages can be up to 60 minutes on Starter and 90 minutes on Growth. Shorten it, or upgrade your plan.

“This recording is silent…” Check that the right microphone was picked and not muted, or that the file has sound, then try again.

“The upload didn’t finish…” or “The upload didn’t arrive…” The connection dropped while uploading. Upload the file again, and keep the page open until it finishes.

“…We’ll try again automatically.” or “…We’ll keep trying for a while.” There’s nothing for you to do. We retry on our own.

“Something went wrong preparing this recording…” Upload it again. If it keeps failing, email support@dialamessage.com with the audio message’s title.
