Record an audio message by phone

You can record an audio message from any phone you’ve added to your account, with no computer.

Set it up once

1. On your dashboard, choose Line settings and find Record by phone.
2. Next to Your verified phone, choose Add and verify your mobile number, and follow the steps to add your phone number and verify it.
3. Back in Record by phone, choose Set a PIN. Write the 6-digit PIN down: we show it only once.

The Recording number is shown in the same box.

Record

1. From your verified phone, call the recording number.
2. Enter your line’s 6-digit PIN, then press #.
3. Record your audio message after the tone. Press # when you’re finished.
4. Then press 1 to publish it now, 2 to record again, or 3 to save it as a draft.

If you publish it, callers hear it in about a minute. Phone recordings appear in Audio messages with a title like “Phone recording” and the date. Choose Rename to give it a better one.

You can record up to 60 minutes on Starter and up to 90 minutes on Growth.

If it doesn’t work

• “This phone isn’t set up for recording.” Call from the phone you verified, and make sure your line has a PIN.
• “That PIN didn’t match.” Try again. After 5 wrong PINs in an hour, recording from that phone is locked for an hour and we email the account owner. Forgot it? Set a new PIN.
